The Trip Editor is operated by Emma Jayne Johnston, a sole trader based in Northern Ireland.

We provide holiday booking, bespoke travel planning and travel extras. We are responsible for the personal information we collect and use to operate our business.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect:

  • Your name, email address and telephone number.

  • Travel preferences, destinations, dates and budget.

  • Traveller and booking details needed to arrange your holiday.

  • Messages, enquiries and other communications.

  • Your planner request and email marketing preferences.

  • Website usage, device and browser information through cookies and similar technologies.

Please avoid sending passport details, payment information or sensitive personal information through general website forms.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to respond to enquiries, prepare proposals, arrange travel, provide itineraries and communicate about your booking.

Our legal bases depend on the purpose:

  • Contract: taking steps at your request before entering a contract and providing agreed services.

  • Consent: sending optional email marketing and using cookies where consent is required.

  • Legitimate interests: managing general business correspondence, maintaining security and handling complaints, where these interests do not override your rights.

  • Legal obligations: keeping records or providing information where required by law.

If sensitive information, such as health or accessibility requirements, is needed for travel arrangements, we will explain why it is needed and obtain explicit consent where appropriate.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Free Planner and Email Updates

When you request the European Escape Planner, we use your email address and any name you provide to deliver it through MailerLite.

Requesting the planner does not automatically subscribe you to marketing. We send travel inspiration and updates only if you select the optional Travel Inspiration checkbox.

You can withdraw your marketing consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in our marketing emails or by contacting us. This does not affect necessary communications about an enquiry or booking.

5. Who We Share Information With

Where necessary, we share relevant information with:

  • The JLT Group and its Orbit booking system to administer travel enquiries and bookings.

  • Airlines, accommodation providers, transfer companies and other travel suppliers.

  • Squarespace, which hosts our website and forms.

  • MailerLite, which manages planner signups and email delivery.

  • Professional advisers or public authorities where necessary or legally required.

Booking records are held in Orbit. JLT and travel suppliers may also process information under their own privacy notices. You can contact us for information about the organisations involved in your booking.

6. International Transfers

Travel arrangements may require information to be sent to suppliers outside the UK, including suppliers at your destination. Website and email service providers may also process information internationally.

Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for a transfer we make, we will use an appropriate transfer mechanism or applicable legal exception.

7. Cookies

Our website uses essential cookies and may use optional cookies and similar technologies for analytics or other features.

Use our cookie banner to accept, decline or manage optional cookies. You can revisit your choice through Cookie Preferences. Simply browsing the website does not constitute consent.

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.

8. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for its purpose.

  • Enquiry records are retained while an enquiry is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle follow-up questions or disputes.

  • Booking records are retained in Orbit in accordance with applicable contractual, legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Planner signup details are retained as needed to deliver the guide and administer the request.

  • Marketing details are retained while you remain subscribed, with periodic reviews of inactive contacts.

  • A minimal record of an unsubscribe request may be retained to ensure we respect your choice.

Retention depends on the type of record, ongoing enquiries or bookings, and any legal requirement or unresolved dispute. Information no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.

9. Your Rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your information, restrict processing, object to processing, and receive certain information in a portable format.

You can withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it. You have the right to object to direct marketing.
